Conclusions The findings of this study provide strong support for continued development of text searching methods to obtain information from routine emergency department data, to improve the capacity for comprehensive injury surveillance.
These people worked oncontracts in the six years observed 1. The purpose of this study was to compare methods for interrogating text fields for identifying potential work-related injuries presenting at EDs in Queensland to inform future surveillance of work-related injury using narrative text.
However, as several concepts can be assigned to each text description, a case may be assigned both SPV Tags i. The latter included fixed-term contracts, seasonal work and on-the-job training contracts, while jobs obtained through temporary work agencies were excluded, since for these it is impossible to identify important confounders such as economic sector and firm size at the time of the injury as they are recorded in the INPS archives under the name of the agencies rather than the employer.
The QISU data are obtained from hospital emergency departments, which chiefly treat patients in the acute phase of injury, soon after occurrence.
The accuracy of the WHIP-INAIL estimate of the injury risk was demonstrated by a comparison with Eurostat statistics and by the consistency of preliminary results with published data [ 12 ]. This in turn makes them complacent, and productivity suffers.
The information, however, lies in the free text fields completed by the triage nurse when recording the patients presenting complaint. INPS insures approximately 15 million people: employees in private companies, semi-dependent workers and self-employed people artisans and traders with the exclusion of professionals like lawyers or architects.
Injury rates decrease with job tenure; the trend is the same in each age group; young workers have both the highest injury rate 9.
